About us
Characterized by an incredible passion for the ancient art, Antonio Iachinis activity is over 20 years of experience in the field of the works of art restoration. During his first years of work, his passion was cultivated among the workbenches of a charming, well-kept laboratory, in which he improved techniques and meticulously studied recipes in the cabinet-making, which was particularly fascinating for him.
He spent whole days of study in the biggest north European shearing industries, to know and to appreciate the most precious and numerous qualities of woody essences, used in the inlaid work. Stages, meetings, workshops to complete hia already talented skill.
As years went by, thanks to his practical experience, he consolidated his curriculum: in the 80s he intervened in the Basilicata areas after a destructive earthquake, to save lots of works of art and restoring them; today, Antonio Iachini is in charge of the homonymous firm, specialized in the restoration and preservation of works of art, and he cooperates with Superintendence, museums, public and ecclesiastic bodies, universities, academies, private collectors. Given his love for his medieval town, he installed his laboratories (about 200 square metres) in the heart of Tuscania historic centre. The cabinet-maker 's laboratory is particularly well-kept and specialized, and it' shows numerous equipments, precious and well-seasoned woods, suitable for every kind of intervention on polychrome, golden or inlaud wooden works. Lot of care is spent with the works of art, by using non-invesiving diagnostic techniques, amd constantly renovasted instruments. Every work is studied in his problems before being subject to an intervention, both in the laboratory and in the external yards, to guarantee reliability and quality.
Every phase of restoration is graphically and photographically do cemented, to detect building techniques, previous restoarations and his conditions of preservation. It allows to Iachini's firm to create photographic archives to document the lasting decennials experience of work.
The tested experience and the high specialization allowed the establishment of trustful relations with the local realities: local government, cultural associations and religious organizations.

Some example: the project, in wood, of a vase for a local association, inspired to the Poggio fountain, and then realized in baked clay to adorn the important via Roma; the intervention to restore the wooden crucified on XVIII century, commissioned by the local government; the restoration of the Lady of sorrows's processional machine for the Tuscania's heralds.
Particularly important is the realization of a new processional machine to carry the relics of the patrons saints: the committee of the Tuscania's patrons saints committed this work to Antonio Iachini in 1999, and he realized the project with a' big professional care; the new "Ark" files every' year in august, and its the town pride.
Sal Since 1992, Antonio Jachini is the artistic director of a cultural association which organizes a forming and graduate course for cabinet-makers and restorers with his supervision. Restoration and inlaid technique teacher for graduate courses and private associations, he praises also the experience to have teached his passion for a work tha tequires a deep manual contact with a noble material such as wood. |
